In 1998 BLR issued our first Pay Budget survey – with the intent of
identifying the trends in employee compensation and equipping HR professionals
with the data necessary to respond to the ever changing employment market.
Participation is voluntary (companies who submit their information receive the compiled report at no charge) and in 2009 over 1600 companies provided us with data about their compensation plans and how they will change over the coming year.
Data compares 2009 actual awards and anticipated 2010 merit/general increases by job level and region. The results in the 2010 report reflect the drastic changes in economic conditions that have taken place in the last year. The average planned merit increase for 2010 is slightly higher than the average actual merit increase reported for 2009.
